March gets a little crazy in my house and the craziness trickles into April if the NCAA tournament challenge between my parents goes down to the wire based upon who mom and dad picked to win it all. This year is just slightly different. It's different for a couple of reasons.
1) My dad already beat my mom (again) because Tennessee failed to beat Michigan State to go to the final four! Had Tennessee won, my mom would have prevailed. This is important because we knew that going into April and our house is still a little crazy.
2) Dad picked West Virginia to go to the Championship game and as I write this West Virginia is experiencing a fast downhill spiral. They are currently 10 points behind and their star player just blew out his knee. Dad is feeling a little sad but is accepting that it's over for him because he picked Kansas to win it all anyway and well we all know what happened to Kansas. You might conclude that the craziness in our household would stop this evening. Well, you're wrong.
3) My parents asked if I would like to fill out a bracket this year and knowing how nuts my parents get around this time, I wanted a piece of the action. This is adding to the craze as there is now a third person to contend in points in the Gnorski Bracket Challenge.
4) Can you guess who accurately picked the Championship game? This is where the trash talking starts, my friends! OH YEAH! OH YEAH! I, Michael Gnorski, picked Butler and Duke to participate in the 2010 NCAA Championship and who is in the Championship Game but none other than Duke (1) and Butler (5)!
We are going crazy here! It is no longer about my Mom trying to clean up on my dad but it is all about Butler! I have to admit that I picked Duke to win it all but how cool is that I, the rookie, got it right! Who ever gets it right in the NCAA tournament especially in a year when Northern Iowa beats Kansas and Syracuse falls to a #5 team?
With West Virginia losing tonight and Butler making it to the final game, I am the official winner in my house for this March Madness season! SWEET!
